American fashion label launched by Marc Jacobs in 1986 with backing from Onward Kashiyama USA. LVMH took a majority stake in 1997 and sold the brand in May 2026 to a 50/50 joint venture between WHP Global and G-III Apparel; Jacobs remains founder and creative director.
