Description
Kengo Kuma & Associates' 89-room hotel for Capella Hotels in Miyagawa-cho, Kyoto. Four-storey, low-rise massing with layered roofs, dark timber frames, gently curved roof brackets, and bamboo lattices that reference the curved inuyarai fencing of surrounding machiya streets. Interiors by Brewin Design Office. Vintage lighting and floorboards from the former elementary school on the site reused in the Yoi restaurant. Six onsen suites with private hot-spring bathing.
