England’s oldest continuously operating Victorian pottery, founded 1851 in Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent by Hulme and Booth; named after William Leigh and Frederick Rathbone Burgess (Burgess & Leigh, 1862). Operates at the Grade II*-listed Middleport Pottery (1889) using traditional tissue-transfer printing. Acquired by a Christopher Bailey-led investor group in June 2026 after parent Denby Pottery entered administration on 31 March 2026.
