Born Hans-Georg Bruno Kern on 23 January 1938 in Deutschbaselitz, Saxony; died 30 April 2026. From 1969 painted his subjects inverted as a strategy for figuration without illusion. Internationally recognised after the 1980 Venice Biennale.
